Sun protection that doesn't stop at the kids. We stock the Sunday Afternoons women's range alongside their kids' hats, because the parent standing on the sideline for two hours is getting just as much UV as the child on the field.
These are hats built for doing things in — gardening, tramping, paddling, school sport, or a fortnight somewhere hot. UPF 50+ fabric, brims that shade properly rather than decoratively, and adjustable sizing that holds in wind. Styles range from wide-brim and bucket through to visors and packable travel shapes.
- UPF 50+ rated fabric
- Sunglass Lock™ on selected styles, so glasses stay put
- Reverse Clamshell Brim™ for packable styles that don't crease
- Adjustable fit and wind-resistant construction
- Water-resistant and cool-weather options across the range
Backed by Sunday Afternoons' own guarantee on materials and workmanship. Shipped from our Auckland store.
Why does a kids' store stock women's hats?
Because parents ask for them. Most of our customers are buying a Sunday Afternoons hat for their child and want the same UPF 50+ protection for themselves — so we carry the women's range alongside it.
What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF 50+ fabric blocks at least 98% of UV radiation. Unlike sunscreen, the rating comes from the fabric itself, so it doesn't wear off or need reapplying through the day.
How do I find my size?
Sunday Afternoons women's hats are sized by head circumference. Measure around your head just above the ears and check the measurements on the individual product page — most styles also have an internal adjuster for fine-tuning.
Will the hat stay on in wind?
Many styles include a chin cord or wind lanyard, and the adjustable internal band helps a lot. If you're mostly outdoors in exposed conditions, look for a style with a chin cord listed in its features.
Can these hats be packed for travel?
Selected styles use the Reverse Clamshell Brim™, which folds flat and springs back without a permanent crease. Those are the ones to look at if the hat is going in a suitcase.
